This photo was taken before Sophie started to play with her buried treasure activity. By the end, there was a fair bit of sand in the tuff spot. At first, Sophie tried standing in it then she began to make marks using her fingers.
We tried to draw circles, zig zags, wobbly lines and dots in the sand. Sophie had a really good go at copying some of my marks.
Then we used a paint brush to explore making different marks in the sand.
The activity was really easy to clean up. We tipped the sand back into the pink bucket and swept up the bit that had escaped the tuff spot. It was a really simple activity that kept her entertained for a bit longer once she had finished playing with the bucket of sand.
This activity is good for:
- Moving and Handling – making random marks with different strokes.
- Moving and Handling – drawing simple shapes such as circles and lines.
- Exploring and Using Media and Materials – experimenting with colours and marks.
