We have worked on so many areas of the garden over the last few months but the one thing I haven’t convinced my husband to make (yet!) is a bug hotel. He hates creepy crawlies and does not want one in the garden! I noticed that earlier in the year Sophie was interested in minibeast and even let a ladybird climb up her arm. However, she has started to become scared of ants and wouldn’t even stand near a worm when we were camping.
This was how our garden looked on the advert for our house when we bought it. It was hard to tell what it was like as it was covered in snow!
The school where I teach, recently bought a caterpillar growing kit to use as part of their minibeast topic. Unfortunately, when the teacher ordered the caterpillars she miscalculated the weeks which meant they were likely to turn into butterflies during the school holidays. I was asked if I would mind taking them home and if I could take lots of pictures to share with the children. So on the last day of term, I loaded up my car with piles of marking and 5 big fat caterpillars!
